The Harris Nature Center has Halloween Adventures for the whole family on Saturday, October 30 from 10:00 am – 5 pm. Children will squeal with delight as they enter the Halloween Fun House, a Halloween thrill without blood or gore. They will continue their adventure with crafts inside the building and games outside. Again this year, they can take a swing at a real pumpkin piñata and collect candy when it finally breaks. Children accompanied by an adult can follow a trail for a short walk through the “Friendly Forest” participating in activities and meeting a “spider” and “bat” along the way to the pumpkin patch where they will be allowed to choose a pumpkin and take it back to the building to decorate. Additionally, in the main display area of the nature building visitors will have the opportunity to enjoy refreshments and to learn about misunderstood animals, such as snakes, spiders, bats and wolves. Live animals, on loan from Preuss Pets will be available for viewing. Children can also take a hayride with a naturalist through the park, during which they can play a trivia game. In addition, there will be a campfire going for roasting marshmallows. Children can participate in all of these activities for just $5.

Visitors who are just interested in the “misunderstood animals” area are encouraged to attend and enjoy refreshments as well. No registration is necessary for this event and it will continue regardless of the weather. For more information, contact the Harris Nature Center at 517-349-3866 or harriscenter@sbcglobal.net.
